Steam Cleaning for Geelong Carpets
What most people call carpet steam cleaning is hot water extraction. Hot water and a cleaning solution go into the pile, loosen the dirt and oily film that vacuuming leaves behind, and a powerful vacuum pulls it straight back out. It's the method we've used on Geelong carpets for over two decades.
We bring truck-mounted machines for houses and portable machines for apartments and upstairs units with lift access. Every job includes a pre-vacuum, treatment of spots and walkways, the extraction clean and a groom of the pile so it dries evenly. You can add rug cleaning, couch cleaning or mattress cleaning to the same visit.

What Our Carpet Steam Cleaning Covers
A standard clean covers the whole carpet, and the extras below are added where your carpet needs them.
Carpets That Come Up Better Than Expected
A dog walking grease across cream carpet, puppy stains that had sat for months, a rental that needed to look right for the condition report. These are the jobs our customers write about. One said the puppy stains were "gone in an hour!"
If you have a mark you're worried about, send us a photo and we'll tell you what we think before you book.

Our Carpet Steam Cleaning Process
- Check the carpet. We look at the carpet type, the traffic areas and any stains, and agree what you'd like done.
- Pre-vacuum. Dry grit comes out first so it doesn't turn to mud during the clean.
- Pre-treatment. Walkways, spots and stains get a product matched to the soil and the fibre.
- Hot water extraction. Hot water and cleaning solution go in, and strong suction draws the water and dirt back out of the pile.
- Deodorise if needed. For pet, food or musty smells.
- Groom. We brush the pile upright so it dries evenly and looks uniform.
Most of the water is removed during the clean, so the carpet is left slightly damp. Allow up to 24 hours for it to dry, depending on airflow and humidity. Open windows and a fan speed it up.
Is Carpet Steam Cleaning Worth It?
For carpet that looks grey in the walkways or has been spilled on, yes. The Carpet Institute of Australia calls hot water extraction the most common method for a corrective deep clean. It recommends a professional clean every 12 to 18 months in a home, or as often as the carpet's manufacturer specifies. Some carpet warranties set their own cleaning frequency, so keep your receipt.
Most of the difference is suction. A truck-mounted machine pulls the water and loosened dirt back out of the pile, which is why the carpet is only damp when we leave.
Our guide on how often carpets should be cleaned explains when homes with pets, kids or allergies need it more often.
Carpet Steam Cleaning FAQs
How does your carpet steam cleaning process work?
We pre-vacuum, treat spots and walkways, then clean with hot water extraction. The hot rinse frees the dirt, and the machine's suction takes it away with the water. We finish by grooming the pile so it dries evenly.
How long does carpet take to dry after steam cleaning?
Allow up to 24 hours, depending on airflow and humidity. The carpet feels slightly damp when we finish. Open windows and doors or run a fan to speed it up, and keep furniture off until it's dry.
Is steam cleaning safe for my carpet, kids and pets?
Yes. We use products suited to your carpet's fibre that are safe around children and pets once the carpet is dry. For wool carpet we use wool-safe products and control the heat and water.
Is carpet steam cleaning worth it?
For most homes, yes. The Carpet Institute of Australia names hot water extraction as the most common method for a deep corrective clean, and recommends a professional clean every 12 to 18 months.
Do I need to move my furniture?
Please move chairs, side tables and anything easy to lift. We clean around and under larger pieces like beds. If you can't move furniture yourself, tell us when you book and we'll help.
Can you clean carpet in an apartment?
Yes. If your building has lift access, we bring a portable machine. Let us know when you book so we have the right equipment on board.
Will every stain come out?
Most do. Some stains, like old urine, bleach or dye, can change the carpet's colour permanently. We'll tell you before we start if a mark is unlikely to come out completely.
